Director of Development

 

 Job Summary:

The Director of Development reports to the Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Educational Foundation
and is responsible for the planning and implementation of the Foundation’s Annual DeltFund (direct mail,
telemarketing, e-mail and social media) and coordination of the leadership annual giving program ($1,000+
donors), while assisting with donor stewardship and development-related communication (website, email,
print-marketing).

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Development

• Working with the EVP, establish goals and prepare action plans for annual fundraising, including
budgets to support their implementation.
• Coordinate and implement the annual fundraising activities, working with direct mail,
telemarketing and electronic media (e-mail, text, social media, etc.) partners.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of leadership annual fund donors and
prospects.
• Refine and further develop undergraduate giving program (Crescent Society) to build alumni
loyalty and philanthropic behavior
• Develop engagement and fundraising program for the parents of current and former Delt
students
• Coordinate and manage donor stewardship and recognition programs.
• Refine existing and develop new gift acknowledgement protocols and procedures.


Communication

• Working with the Foundation EVP, help develop persuasive Foundation story to include content,
key messaging points, and brand-identity.
• Develop and help maintain website content and look.
• Optimize traditional media (magazine, direct mail, and telemarketing) to communicate the
Foundation story to donors and prospective donors.
• Utilize newer media, technologies, and tools to effectively communicate with alumni and
engage them in the life and future of the Fraternity.


Nonessential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Represent the Foundation at various Fraternity events and conferences.
• Other duties/projects as necessary and as assigned by the EVP.

• Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
• Member of Greek organization, Delta Tau Delta member preferred
• Minimum of two years professional experience, not-for-profit development preferred
• Strong oral and written communicator
• Creative problem solver with strong critical thinking skills
• High degree of attention to detail
• Servant-leader philosophy with commitment to customer (donor) service
• Willingness and ability to travel by car and airplane (25-50% of time)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning fundraising (Raisers Edge) and
membership databases.

 

Physical Effort:

While performing the responsibilities of the Director of Development, employee is required to talk and
hear. The employee is often required to sit and use hands and fingers to handle or feel. Vision abilities
required by this job include close vision.
